Nestle Pure Lifes Kathryn steals the show

SUN CITY – Although Kathryn Cronje did not think she would win the 11 Global triathlon here on Sunday, her new sponsor, Nestle Pure Life gave her the boost she needed to win.

Cronje came out of the 1 500m swim, 55 seconds behind Kim Battson, but caught her on the 40km bike. In the final transition, Cronje lost time putting on her shirt and tying her new shoes, which gave her blisters, but at 8km into the 10km run she passed a broken Battson to win by 40 seconds. “I came out the water behind Kim and thought I would have to settle for second place, but after a solid bike ride I was able to chase Kim all the way to the 8km mark before I was able to shift up a gear and win. “I must say it’s great to be sponsored by Nestle Pure Life and I was able to give them value for money,” said an excited Cronje. Third place went to Natasha Gorrie-Nattall.
